The ink drawing for “Sveta Sophia” was inspired by watching Rick Steve’s Europe during the pandemic. “I was dreaming about traveling, we hadn’t left our house for a year and there was an episode on Bulgaria showing the iconic sculpture of Saint Sophia. I loved the owl on her arm and had to draw my own version of her.” The piece also memorizes two of Soto’s graffiti friends who passed away during the pandemic era. Sveta means “bright” or “shining”.
